What products are restricted in the European Union market?

The European Union market consists of many countries which come up together to form a common market with common regulations. The regulation ensures human life and the environment is protected from any substance that can pose harm to them. This means that in order to run the market smoothly, there should be products that are restricted from the market. Some are very dangerous to the extent of being banned from the market. In order to ensure your product does not have the substance restricted in the market, it should ensure testing by bodies like REACH, RoHS to ensure it’s not in the Enviropass SVHC list. This list contains substances that are restricted in the European market. Today we are going to discuss the products restricted in the European Union market.

  • Dangerous chemicals.

These are chemicals that have a fatal effect on the human body and cause pollution in the environment. The products which contain chemicals or substances that a fatal to human health are prohibited in the EU market.

Bodies like REACH and RoHS have put in place compliance regulations that restrict companies from using substances containing substances of high concern. The Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) list always get updated with the addition of more chemicals whenever there are new substances.

These chemicals even include the day-to-day chemicals we work with even in farming.

  • Endangered species.

The EU market does not allow the trading of endangered species in their market. Endangered species include live animals and plants or products derived from endangered species. Examples’ of restricted species are the rhinoceros tusks whose trading is restricted because the animal itself belongs to the endangered species.

When ordering products, importers should be aware of the restrictions to ensure they have a permit for the goods before they reach the market.

  • Pirated or counterfeit goods.

When a customs officer detects that goods and services done on the internet infringe the intellectual property rights. They will detain the goods and inform the holder of the god as well as the owner of the intellectual property. The owner of the intellectual property will decide on the next step. HE can decide to bring the case to court.

EU has put these regulations and restrictions to ensure that the market runs smoothly and the products on the market do not cause any harm to nobody or to the environment.
