6 Waterfalls in Banyuwangi with Beautiful Views

Banyuwangi is on the rise in recent years. This eastern tip of the Java Island area was previously known for its Ketapang Harbor as a crossing point from Java Island to Bali Island, the most popular tourist destination in Indonesia.

Lately, the natural beauty of tourist attractions in Banyuwangi has also been lifted, making this area starting to look at as one of the ideal tourist destinations for vacations. One of the beautiful natural destinations is a waterfall. Banyuwangi has some beautiful waterfalls that you must visit. Here is the list:

  1. Telunjuk Dewa Raung Waterfall

Because of its unique shape resembling an index finger and its location at the foot of Mount Raung, local people call this spot Telunjuk Dewa Raung Waterfall. Located in Sumberarum Village, Songgon District, it has 20 meters in height.

To get to the location, visitors who have a high adventurous spirit must be very impressed. The path through the wilderness of Mount Raung and narrow paths are not easy to pass. Around the waterfall, there is a banyan tree whose estimated have reached hundreds of years. There is also a cave that emits clean and clear spring water.

  1. Tirto Kemanten Waterfall

Located in Wonorejo Hamlet, Kalibaru District, Tirto Kemanten Waterfall is one of the waterfalls with beautiful views on Mount Raung in Banyuwangi. The road to the waterfall tends to be smooth, but visitors must climb the route for 1 Km and stairs to get there.

 

The local community also knows this attraction as the twin waterfalls because two showers come from one spring. The name kemanten (bridegroom) is also pinned because the waterfall is located side by side.

Kemanten Waterfall is about 10 meters in height with cliffs and green trees panorama. The beautiful and cool atmosphere becomes a magnet for visitors. After playing in the water, you can relax on the gazebo near the waterfall.

  1. Kedung Angin Waterfall

Tourists who come to Banyuwangi will be treated to a waterfall attraction that seems endless. Another natural beauty in this city is Kedung Angin Waterfall located in Pekel Village, Licin District. You can access the location after driving 20 Km from downtown Banyuwangi. Panoramic rice fields and pine forests become your friends along the way.

Arriving at the village, there is still a 1 Km path that must pass. After arriving at the waterfall, you will see a pool formed by the waterfall with clear greenish water. Visitors often use it for swimming or just playing with water. There is also a puddle with 2 meters depth and 700 meters width.

  1. Selendang Arum Waterfall

Selendang Arum Waterfall is a favorite place for local residents and tourists. It is only about 500 meters from the residential areas of Sumber Arum Village, Songgon District. Here, visitors can do exciting adventure activities,  enjoy the cold water, and enjoy the area’s cool and beautiful atmosphere.

Make sure you have strong stamina before visiting the waterfall. Although close to settlements, tourists must walk an uphill path through hilly areas and rice fields. Moreover, the steep cliffs along the way also make you be extra careful going through it.

After a tiring journey, visitors will be greeted by the soothing sound of gurgling water. This 20-meter-high waterfall is named Selendang Arum because of its shawl (selendang)-like shape. Most tourists can spend their time here by climbing the rocks around the waterfall or playing water.

  1. Temcor Waterfall

Still, in Sumber Arum Village, Songgon District, there is Temcor Waterfall, also known by local residents as Kembang Arum. The journey to reach it is pretty exciting. Visitors must pass through the trekking path between the residents’ rice fields. This waterfall comes from the river as a source of irrigation for rice fields that fall on the edge of a ravine. To descend the ravine, you have to be careful because of the slippery road surface.

With a waterfall 10 meters in height, the shower forms a fairly wide pool. Local residents and tourists usually enjoy the natural beauty by swimming and observing the beautiful panorama.

  1. Watu Kurung Waterfall

The adrenaline lovers who like to hike must be familiar with Watu Kurung Waterfall. Located at Mount Raung, climbers often use it to freshen up before heading to the mountain top.

Watu Kurung Waterfall can be found at Kajarharjo Village, Kalibaru District. Getting to this tourist location requires excellent physical strength because you have to walk as far as 2.5 Km through trails that penetrate forests and shrubs with the up and down roads.

It is called Watu Kurung because it is surrounded (kurung) by high cliffs (watu). Along the journey to Watu Kurung Waterfall, you can see the beautiful panorama mountains with various greenery plants.
